If you live in a remote place and can’t come to us, you can choose to buy a bike in the box and have it delivered. If this works for you, there are some special conditions of sale.
You can also choose to save costs by buying a boxed bike.
If you buy a bike in a box, it should be assembled and checked by an experienced bicycle technician. Your warranty depends on this, and that’s why the assembly conditions are printed on the outside of the box. They also feature prominently in the books that come with the bike.
When we unbox and assemble your bike, we give the bike and components a thorough visual inspection before completing the assembly according to the manufacturer spec. We also check the following:
We also give you a free ‘first service’ between 30 and 90 days of purchase. We go right over your bike and check everything is OK after the first few rides. When this is done, CBC carries the responsibility for manufacturer warranty on defective product.
When you buy a boxed bike, you’re responsible for all of this work. You’re also responsible for any issues that may arise from incorrect assembly or adjustment.
If your bike needs adjustment following your assembly, we’re happy to do it. We have a standard charge for this from $69, depending on the bike.
If a component of the bike fails within the warranty period, you can contact us. We’ll ask you to provide proof that the bike was assembled by an experienced bicycle technician.
If our assessment establishes a manufacturer defect, we’ll do the warranty claim for you. If our assessment is that the bike was assembled incorrectly or has been misused, warranty won’t apply.
CBC recommends that all bikes and scooters sold by us are unboxed and assembled by our team. We don’t recommend you do this work yourself!
